Both Viagra and sildenafil are widely used to treat erectile dysfunction. In fact, they contain the same active ingredient. Viagra is a brand name for the sildenafil produced and sold by the company Pfizer. Sildenafil is also sold as a generic drug, which is medically identical to Viagra.
Sildenafil citrate was Albert Wood and Peter Dunn as a possible treatment for hypertension and angina; conditions associated with coronary heart disease. In 1991 Dr. Nicholas Terrett, now often referred to as the father of Viagra, was named in the British patent for the drug as a heart medication. And though Pfizer’s early trials of the drug in the 1990s did not prove its efficacy as a heart medication, patients who took part in the clinical trials reported increased erections after taking sildenafil. Separate studies provided more information on the biochemical process that causes erections, which helped scientists understand how sildenafil could enhance the effects of sexual stimulation and open up blood vessels in the penis. Sildenafil was then studied in men with erectile dysfunction, and in 1998 it was approved by the FDA specifically for treatment of ED and branded as Viagra.
When for the drug in June 2013 it made way for generic manufacturers to produce sildenafil, or ‘generic Viagra’. It costs a fraction of the price of Viagra, and has made the treatment more accessible to a wider range of patients. You can now choose to buy, Pfizer’s branded drug, or, the generic version.
Branded Viagra comes in small diamond-shaped blue pills – Pfizer has also patented this pill design and appearance. Sildenafil is sold as white or blue tablets, with different characteristics depending on the brand. Some have chalky finishes while others are smooth, and some are scored for easy division, while others are not. Both Viagra and the different can be purchased in 25mg, 50mg, and 100mg preparations, and there is no significant difference between them in terms of active ingredients.
Viagra tablets compared to sildenafil tablets. Sildenafil tablets can come in many shapes, colours, and sizes – see.As a generic medicine, sildenafil is produced by a number of manufacturers, and competition among them helps to regulate its price and keep it affordable for consumers. Branded Viagra is only produced by Pfizer, whose name recognition and customer loyalty allow it to charge a higher price for its renowned ‘little blue pills’.
Viagra and sildenafil are medically the same. It is a requirement for the generic version to contain the same levels of the active ingredient in the body as its branded alternative, which is known as. Before generic drugs are licenced for sale the manufacturer must demonstrate bioequivalence to the licensing authorities (the ).
If you have a private prescription for Viagra, the branded drugmustbe dispensed; but you may ask for sildenafil at the time that the prescription is made. They are considered equally effective, however patients must follow proper protocol for optimum results. Also note that if the condition does not respond to the initial dose of Viagra or generic sildenafil, a higher dose may be required (after several unsuccessful attempts).

As many as three million people a year will need erectile dysfunction medication as a first year or even beyond to get the treatment they need to treat an impotence that they can never get from a pharmacy. But a recent study published in the Journal of the American Urological Association found that only 2.4% of the population reported having a sexual dysfunction before the age of 40. Many patients were told to take Viagra or any other erectile dysfunction medication, such as sildenafil, for at least six months to try. “These medications, in fact, are not effective in preventing ED,” says Dr. Andrew W. Tiefer, a urology expert and associate professor of urology at Northwestern University who serves on the Urological Association’s International Society for Sexual Medicine.
As Viagra is an effective treatment for ED, it’s a good idea to try to reduce your risk of getting erectile dysfunction by reducing the size of the blood vessels in the penis. It’s a very effective way to lower blood pressure, but it’s not always practical, says Dr. Tiefer, who has written a medical book on erectile dysfunction.
A recent study published in the Journal of the American Urological Association found that only 11% of the population reported having a sexual dysfunction at least six months before starting any erectile dysfunction treatment. That was down from 24% of the population.
Viagra (Sildenafil) is a medication approved by the U. S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) as a treatment for erectile dysfunction, but it has faced criticism from some countries due to its safety profile and potential side effects.
One of the most common side effects of sildenafil is headaches, which can lead to dizziness, low blood pressure, and fatigue. These side effects are generally reversible and can be treated with a prescription.
Another potential side effect of Viagra is a persistent and sometimes painful erection that lasts more than four hours. This can be especially problematic if the medication is taken before sexual activity. It’s not advisable to stop taking Viagra before sexual activity, but it’s important to note that Viagra is not the same as a “blue pill,” meaning it’s less effective than other medications that might cause ED.
According to a research analysis of data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, the prevalence of erectile dysfunction among men was 8.3% in Nigeria. These numbers suggest that the number of men who develop erectile dysfunction is rising worldwide. There are no official statistics available about the prevalence of erectile dysfunction in Nigeria, but the data suggests that there may be a higher prevalence in the country of origin.
While it’s true that Viagra can cause headaches, it’s important to note that it’s not safe to take sildenafil if you have an erection lasting longer than four hours, as this may be a sign of serious heart problems or other serious medical conditions.
A doctor may be able to recommend alternative medications, including but not limited to, which may reduce the effectiveness of the medication. However, it’s crucial to discuss the potential risks and benefits with a healthcare professional before starting any new medication.

Date of Re- servings, 20/30/2025I am a 45-year-old male with no history of sexual problems. I started taking viagra on October 16th, 1998. I am a healthy 26-year-old male with no history of erectile dysfunction and no history of anxiety, depression or relationship problems. I have no history of other sexual problems, and am no history of depression or anxiety. I am very hesitant to take Viagra, since I am sure I would be hesitant to use it if I felt I was having a bad reaction to it. I am a middle-aged man with a relatively good heart and a relatively good body.
I am currently taking 50mg Viagra. My doctor told me to take 50mg sildenafil at least 30 minutes before sexual activity. I would not consider taking 50mg sildenafil if I had erectile dysfunction or a history of heart disease, as I was taking it without a prescription.
I am very concerned about the possible sexual side effects of Viagra. I have had to take it every day for years to be safe. I have never had any problems whatsoever with my erectile function. I have been taking sildenafil for 10 years now. I have never suffered any problems with erections. I have never had a problem with a weak erection or a weak sensation in my erection. I have never been able to get an erection in my entire life.
I am not a very good lover. I have had the terrible experience of not having my erection firm enough to have sexual intercourse.
The cheapest erectile dysfunction (ED) pills are generic Viagra, called.
The term "generic" refers to the active ingredient of a medicine or drug rather than to the advertised brand name under which the medicine is sold. It is a term referring to any drug marketed under its chemical name without advertising.
Pfizer made the originaltablet that is often referred to as the “blue pill”.The patent expired in 2013 which then allowed other pharmaceutical manufactures to make a generic version under the name of the active ingredient called Sildenafil. They are exactly the same medically and perform in the same way with the same side-effects.
As with most branded products, Viagra is sold at a higher price, therefore the generic tablets sold asare much cheaper.
Medically there is no difference between a generic medicine and the branded medicine, as they both have the same active ingredients to make them perform in the same way. They only differ in the “bulking” agents used to fill the tablet as the amount of active ingredient required, in this case Sildenafil, is very small. This makes the tablets bigger and easier to handle.
The main difference between generic andbranded named prescription medicines is cost with generics being much cheaper
